DPM Mahato claims he is fully committed to national unity and territorial integrity

Sunakhari News/ Kathmandu-

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) amd Urban Development Minister Rajendra Mahato has claimed that he is fully committed to national unity and territorial integrity.

Issuing a statement Saturday night after his statement about multi-national state made after induction in the Cabinet was widely condemned, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) leader Mahato has claimed that his statement has been distorted and misinterpreted.

He has sworn allegiance to Article (3) of the Constitution that states ‘Having multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, multi-cultural characteristics with common aspirations of people living in diverse geographical regions, and being committed to and united by a bond of allegiance to national independence, territorial integrity, national interest and prosperity of Nepal, all the Nepali people collectively constitute the nation’, and argued that he meant that the state is a shared nation of all ethnicities, classes, communities, religions and languages with his statement about multi-national state.

“I am fully committed to national unity and territorial integrity. I want to clarify that nobody should be in illusion otherwise about this,” he ahs stressed.

Pointing at the reservations the party has long had about the Constitution, he has added that JSP will put its position in the task force formed for amendment of the Constitution.
